Scattered Showers/Thunderstorms Expected Tuesday Afternoon Across Western & Central Mass

For Tonight: Cloudy skies this evening will give way to partly cloudy skies late tonight as the atmosphere loses some of its instability. Low temperatures will be between 35 and 40 Degrees. Winds will be Northwest at 5 to 10 mph. Tuesday: A fairly robust piece of upper level energy will traverse the region during the afternoon hours. This will combine with an unstable air mass to produce scattered shower and thunderstorm activity throughout the afternoon hours. I expect to see some early morning sunshine give way to building cumulus clouds by mid and late morning. This will lead to scattered showers and thunderstorms throughout the area during much of the afternoon. Some of heavier showers and thunderstorms will be capable to producing small hail. This shower and thunderstorm activity is likely to diminish and end by sunset Tuesday. High temperatures will be near 55 Degrees. Winds will be Northwest at 5 to 10 mph. Wednesday Through Friday: Unsettled weather looks like it will continue through the second half of this week. Wednesday looks partly sunny with some scattered showers during the afternoon. High temperatures will be near 60 Degrees. Winds will be North at 5 to 10 mph in the morning and South at 5 to 10 mph in the afternoon. Much more in the way of showers looks likely for Wednesday night with low temperatures near 40 Degrees. Thursday is expected to be cloudy with scattered showers. High temperatures will be near 55 Degrees. Friday looks partly sunny with high temperatures near 60 Degrees. Weekend Weather: It looks like a rather robust frontal system will affect the weather as soon as later Sunday. Saturday looks partly sunny with high temperatures between 55 and 60 Degrees. Skies will become cloudy by Sunday morning with rain moving in during the afternoon and evening. It appears that rain will continue through Sunday night and much of next Monday. The rain could be heavy at times.
