Scattered Showers & Thunderstorms Expected Late Tonight & On Thursday Afternoon

For The Rest Of This Afternoon: Generally partly sunny skies are expected for the rest of this afternoon. It will be warm and somewhat humid with temperatures around 85 Degrees. Winds will be west at about 5 mph. Tonight: A piece of atmospheric energy is expected to push through the area late tonight. What this means is that skies will start out partly cloudy this evening with cloudy skies expected later tonight. In addition, some scattered showers and some rumbles of thunder are expected after midnight. Low temperatures will be near 65 Degrees. Winds will be northwest at 5 mph. Thursday: Another piece of energy is expected to move through the area during the day Thursday. This, combined with some unstable air will lead to another round of scattered showers and thunderstorms during Thursday afternoon. All of the data that I’ve looked at today points to that the majority of the shower and thunderstorm activity should occur near and especially east of I-190 and near and east of I-395. So, my thinking is that skies on Thursday should feature a mixture of sunshine and clouds. Showers and thunderstorms are expected during Thursday afternoon. The coverage of the shower and thunderstorm activity is expected to range from very isolated from all of Western Mass to widely scattered across the western Worcester Hills to about the I-84, I-190 and I-395 corridor to possibly widespread shower and thunderstorm activity across areas east of I-190 and I-395. The main threat from any thunderstorm activity will be very localized heavy rainfall and possible localized flooding as the thunderstorms will be very slow moving and may sit over an area for a while. High temperatures Thursday will be near 80 Degrees. Winds will be north at 5 to 10 mph. Friday & Saturday: An area of high pressure is expected to build into the area for Friday and Saturday. Friday is expected to feature lots of sunshine with high temperatures between 80 and 85 Degrees. Saturday looks partly sunny with high temperatures near 85 Degrees. Sunday & Monday: An upper level trough of low pressure is expected to approach our area on Sunday before moving through on Monday. While a majority of Sunday looks dry with partly sunny skies, I think that the upper level trough may be close enough to bring some shower and thunderstorm activity late in the day. High temperatures will be between 85 and 90 Degrees with humid conditions. More widespread showers and thunderstorms with locally heavy rainfall is expected for Monday afternoon into Monday night. It will be very humid on Monday with high temperatures near 85 Degrees.
