Route 20 Weather Turns Five Years Old Today!!

Holy cow, Route 20 Weather turns five years old today!! I want to start by thanking each and every one of you for using Route 20 Weather. In the past five years I have been absolutely overwhelmed by the growth of Route 20 Weather, as well as your kind words and support. Five years ago today, August 12, 2018, Route 20 Weather was established. The catalyst of this idea came off of the Webster tornado of the morning of August 4, 2018 and the overwhelming lack of severe weather updates as that storm blew through. The night of August 4, 2018, my wife, Meg, came up with the idea of providing local and even hyperlocal weather forecasts for the forgotten parts of Mass. She was born and grew up in Worcester and knew how utterly lacking the weather information and forecasts are once you head outside of I-495. This was displayed once again with the lack of reliable weather updates that morning with the Webster tornado. So, I ran with the idea and quickly established Route 20 Weather in the hopes of giving Western and Central Mass a better source of local weather forecast information. In addition, I wanted the forecasts to be without the hype and noise that you see with other weather forecasts.

Over the past five years, I have made Route 20 Weather into something that can be considered a “Mom and Pop” operation. I believe in providing weather forecasts that have value, honesty and integrity. In the past year or so, I have also expanded Route 20 Weather to provide hyperlocal weather consulting and guidance to local town governments, plow companies, lawn maintenance companies and anyone else that absolutely requires accurate weather info to make important decisions off of. Once again, I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to all of you for helping Route 20 Weather grow over the past five years. Without you, Route 20 Weather would not exist. Finally, feel free to share all of our weather forecasts for Western and Central Mass with your family, friends, coworkers, neighbors and anyone else who you think may find our forecasts useful. Help Route 20 Weather continue to grow and launch us into the stratosphere. Thank You!! Rob Lightbown
