Rain Is Expected Tonight Across Western & Central Mass

Widespread dense fog with areas of drizzle and areas of very light rain is expected to persist across the region throughout the rest of this afternoon.

Steady rain is expected to overspread the entire area during the early evening hours with the rain becoming moderate in intensity starting just before midnight tonight.

Rain, which will be moderate at times in intensity, is then expected to continue through and beyond midnight tonight.

The steady rain is then expected to come to an end between around sunrise Thursday morning.

In addition to the rain, dense fog is expected to continue right through all of tonight.

On and off scattered rain showers are expected throughout Thursday and Thursday night with another round of steady rain expected to begin just before sunrise Friday morning. That rain is then expected to continue throughout Friday morning before it tapers off to scattered showers during Friday afternoon.

Rainfall amounts tonight will average between one half of an inch and three quarters of an inch. An additional one half inch of rain looks likely during Friday morning.

Temperatures tonight will gradually rise from 35 Degrees this evening to 40 to 45 Degrees by after midnight tonight. Temperatures on Thursday will top out at between 45 and 50 Degrees. Temperatures during Thursday night will hover around 45 Degrees and temperatures on Friday will be between 45 and 50 Degrees.

This milder temperatures will lead to quick snow melt and this combined with the rain over the next couple of days will lead to quite a bit of ponding of water on roads. Flash flooding or river flooding is not expected this time around.
