Quiet Weather Expected Through Wednesday Across Western & Central Mass

For This Afternoon: A cold afternoon is expected even though there will be plenty of sunshine. Temperatures this afternoon will be between 15 and 20 Degrees. Tonight & Tuesday: Clear skies and cold temperatures are expected for tonight with low temperatures between 5 and 10 Degrees. Tuesday will be a sunny to partly sunny day with high temperatures between 25 and 30 Degrees. Wednesday: An area of high pressure will move to the east on Wednesday which will set up a southwesterly wind flow. Skies on Wednesday are expected to be partly sunny with high temperatures near 45 Degrees. Thursday Through Friday: A strong frontal system is expected to push through the area bringing with it rain, heavy at times, strong southerly winds and maybe even a rumble or two of thunder on Thursday night and Friday morning. Skies on Thursday are expected to be cloudy and there will be some scattered rain showers during the afternoon. High temperatures Thursday will be near 55 Degrees. It appears that a wind-driven rainstorm is in the offing for Thursday night and Friday morning. For Thursday Night & Friday Morning – Rain is expected to overspread the region between about 9 pm and midnight Thursday night and then continue through the rest of the night Thursday night and all of Friday morning with the rain falling heavily at times. In addition to the rain, it will be quite windy throughout Thursday night with south to southwest winds gusting up to 40 to 50 mph at times. These windy conditions will continue through Friday morning with winds shifting into a westerly direction with gusts of up to 40 to 50 mph at times. I also think that a rumble or two of thunder is a possibility from after midnight Thursday night through Friday morning during the bouts of heavy rain as there may be just enough unstable air around to produce a few embedded thunderstorms. Total rainfall amounts of around one inch can be expected from Thursday afternoon to Friday morning with locally higher amounts possible. While river and stream flooding currently looks unlikely, I do think that we will very likely see street flooding and basement flooding for those susceptible to that. Temperatures on Thursday night and Friday morning will hold steady between 50 and 55 Degrees. Turning To Friday Afternoon – Rain will come to an end by midday Friday with skies becoming partly sunny during the afternoon. Temperatures on Friday afternoon will fall through the 40s and into the upper 30s by late in the day. It will continue to be windy with west to northwest winds gusting up to 30 to 40 mph at times. For The Presidents’ Day Weekend: A relatively quiet weekend is expected in terms of weather. Saturday is expected to be sunny with high temperatures between 35 and 40 Degrees. Sunday is expected to be partly sunny with high temperatures near 35 Degrees. Presidents’ Day is expected to be partly sunny with high temperatures near 35 Degrees.
