This Afternoon: A weak area of high pressure will control our weather this afternoon. Cloudy skies are expected this afternoon, but it’ll be dry with high temperatures between 38 and 42 Degrees. Tonight: Generally cloudy skies are expected tonight, but again it is expected to be dry. Low temperatures tonight will be near 20 Degrees. Wednesday: Generally partly sunny skies are expected throughout Wednesday with high temperatures near 40 Degrees. Thursday Through Friday: Quiet weather is expected to continue through Thursday and Friday. Thursday is expected to be partly sunny with high temperatures near 40 Degrees. An increase in clouds is expected on Friday as a frontal system approaches the area from the west. High temperatures Friday will be near 45 Degrees. Rain Is Expected Late Friday Night & Saturday: A robust frontal system is expected to push across the region later Friday night and Saturday. This front will pull some very moist air northward into the region. In addition, a secondary low pressure system is expected to form near eastern New England leading to a little more energy input into this frontal boundary. What all this means is that a soaking rain is expected across the entire area beginning just after midnight Friday night and continuing through much of the day on Saturday. Rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are expected across all of Western and Central Mass. When Is It Going To Snow Again? I still think that the last 10 days or so of this month will feature below average temperatures. In addition, the weather pattern continues to look favorable for Eastern United States storminess and we’ll be watching for at least a couple of chances for accumulating snow between January 20 and January 31. At this point, it’s too soon to really pinpoint exactly what dates and how much snow may accumulate, but I’m watching 3 time periods with particular interest - January 20-21, January 23-24 and finally January 28-30.
