On & Off Showers & Thunderstorms Expected Through This Weekend Across Western & Central Mass

A slow moving frontal system pushing across Southern New England will bring a somewhat unsettled weekend to the area. While it is not expected to be a complete wash out, there is likely to be quite a bit of shower and thunderstorm activity around from time to time. For This Afternoon Into This Evening – Showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop over the next couple of hours or so with the “peak” of the shower and thunderstorm activity occurring between 3 pm and 7 pm. After 7 pm or so, the shower and thunderstorm activity will push out of the area. Most of the thunderstorms will remain below severe levels, however, a couple of storms may become strong with wind gusts of up to 40 mph, very heavy rainfall and frequent lightning possible. Temperatures this afternoon will be around 90 Degrees. Late Tonight & Saturday: Another round of heavy showers and maybe a thunderstorm or two will push into Western and Central Mass by about sunrise Saturday morning and continue through the morning and into the early afternoon hours. These showers and thunderstorms should come to an end by about mid-afternoon Saturday. A few hours of dry weather is possible late Saturday afternoon before yet another round of heavy showers and thunderstorms move through between about 8 pm and 1 am Saturday night. Low temperatures tonight will be between 65 and 70 Degrees. High temperatures Saturday will be around 80 Degrees. In addition, it’s expected to remain very humid tonight and Saturday. Sunday: On and off showers and thunderstorms are expected throughout Sunday. Unfortunately, there may not be more than a 2 to 3 hour time span between the rounds of showers and thunderstorms on Sunday. It will continue to be very humid on Sunday with high temperatures near 75 Degrees. Looking Ahead To Next Week: No break in the seemingly unending wet summer is expected. On and off showers are expected throughout Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. High temperatures all 3 days will be in the 75 to 80 Degree range with humid conditions. Thursday looks dry with partly sunny skies and high temperatures near 80 Degrees. Another round of showers is expected for next Friday, unfortunately. There is hope, however, for actually a dry weekend next weekend with the possibility of sunshine both next Saturday and next Sunday and no rain. Fingers and toes crossed!!
