Much Colder Weather Moves In For Tonight & Tuesday Across Western & Central Mass

For Tonight: Clear skies with much colder temperatures are expected tonight as a strong high pressure system build into the region. Low temperatures will be between 34 and 39 Degrees. Winds will be Northwest at 10 to 20 mph with gusts to 30 mph. Tuesday: A strong high pressure system will be in control of the weather throughout Tuesday. This means that skies will be sunny and it’ll be much cooler as compared to what it’s been the last few days. High temperatures will be between 50 and 55 Degrees. Winds will be Northwest at 10 to 20 mph with gusts to 30 mph. Tuesday Night: Clear skies are expected on Tuesday night with low temperatures between 21 and 26 Degrees. Winds will be North at 5 to 10 mph. Wednesday & Thursday: That high pressure system will remain in control of the weather throughout Wednesday and Thursday. Wednesday is expected to be sunny with high temperatures between 50 and 55 Degrees. Thursday looks sunny to partly sunny with high temperatures between 60 and 65 Degrees. Friday Through This Weekend: It looks likely that quite the rain storm is going to occur beginning late Friday afternoon or Friday evening and then continuing through all of Friday night, all of Saturday and all of Saturday night. Tropical Storm Nicole, which is now located to the east of the Bahamas is expected to come ashore along Florida’s East Coast on Wednesday night and Thursday as a hurricane. It then looks like an upper level trough of low pressure and its associated surface cold front will pick Nicole up and send the storm up the East Coast of the United States as we get into Friday and Saturday. The energy and moisture associated with Nicole will combine with the moisture and energy and moisture from the frontal system to produce an area of heavy rain that looks to overspread the region by late Friday afternoon or Friday evening. This heavy rain is then expected to continue through all of Friday night and all of Saturday. The rain is then expected to continue through all of Saturday night. The rain with this system looks to come to an end by Sunday morning with things gradually drying out during the day on Sunday. The heaviest rain in terms of intensity looks to occur beginning late Friday night and early Saturday and then continuing through all day Saturday. Rain intensity then looks to decrease during Saturday night. Total rainfall amounts of 2 to 3 inches look quite possible across the entire area with locally higher amounts possible. Another part of this storm that I’m going to be keeping a close eye on is the possibility of gusty south winds at times. At this point, it looks like south winds may gust up to 30 to 40 mph at times during Friday night and Saturday morning. I will be watching the late week and weekend storm closely and will have updates as needed. High temperatures Friday will be near 65 Degrees. Low temperatures Friday night will be near 55 Degrees. High temperatures Saturday will be between 55 and 60 Degrees. Low temperatures Saturday night will be near 40 Degrees. High temperatures Sunday will be between 45 and 50 Degrees.
