Less Effects In The Way Of Rainfall But Possibly More Severe Weather From The Remnants Of Debby Friday & Friday Night Across Western & Central Mass

For Tonight: An area of high pressure is expected to build southward towards our area tonight.

This means that skies tonight will be partly cloudy with low temperatures near 55 Degrees. Winds will be Northeast at 5 to 10 mph.

Thursday: An area of high pressure will continue to control the weather during the morning, but an upper level disturbance may pass through the area during the afternoon and evening.

Skies will start out partly sunny during the morning, but looks to become cloudy during the afternoon. A few hit or miss showers look possible starting around mid-afternoon and continuing into the evening as that upper level disturbance moves through.

High temperatures will be near 75 Degrees. Winds will be East at 5 to 10 mph.

Thursday Night: The plume of tropical moisture out ahead of the remnants of Debby are expected to begin pushing northward towards our area during Thursday night.

Skies throughout Thursday night will be cloudy. In addition, isolated showers during the evening will become more numerous during the after midnight hours. In addition, a few embedded thunderstorms are a possibility during the after midnight hours.

Low temperatures will be between 60 and 65 Degrees. Winds will be East at 5 to 10 mph.

Less Rain But Possibly More Severe Weather From The Remnants Of Debby Friday & Friday Night: It is looking increasingly more likely that the remnants of Debby will track further west than previously thought. Also, the forward speed of Debby looks to be quicker than what was thought previously.

As of right now, the forecast track of the remnants of Debby takes it across central and northern New York State during Friday afternoon and Friday night and then into eastern Quebec on Saturday. This further west track, if it holds, would mean much less rain across the region. At the same time though, being on the eastern side of this system opens up the very real possibility of severe weather during Friday afternoon and Friday night.

Friday will feature a very tropical type air mass with scattered on and off convective type showers that produce occasional heavy downpours. In addition, a few embedded thunderstorms are likely during the afternoon and again we will need to keep an eye on any thunderstorms for the possibility of severe weather, including isolated very gusty winds and an isolated short-lived spin-up tornado or two.

Much more widespread showers and scattered thunderstorms are expected during Friday night into early Saturday morning. Heavy downpours and occasional wind gusts of up to 40 mph can be expected. In addition to this, I am going to be keeping a very close eye on any thunderstorms that try to become strong to severe. An isolated tornado or two and some very gusty winds are possible with any severe storms.

The showers and thunderstorms should come to an end during the morning on Saturday with perhaps some sunshine returning during Saturday afternoon.

In terms of rain totals, latest indications are that around one inch of total rain seems likely across Central Mass and closer to 2 inches of rain seems likely across Western Mass.

High temperatures Friday will be between 75 and 80 Degrees with humid conditions. Low temperatures Friday night will be near 70 Degrees with very humid conditions. High temperatures by Saturday afternoon will be near 80 Degrees.

Winds Friday will be Southeast and will increase to 10 to 20 mph. Winds Friday night will be South to Southeast at 10 to 20 mph with occasional gusts to 30-40 mph.

Sunday Through Tuesday: Once the remnants of Debby exit the region, we will be left with some pretty nice weather.

Sunday and Monday both look sunny to partly sunny with high temperatures between 75 and 80 Degrees.

Tuesday looks partly sunny with high temperatures between 75 and 80 Degrees.
