Latest Update Regarding The Snowfall Expected From 8-9 pm This Evening To Midday Sunday

DONATE TO HELP WITH COSTS & SUPPORT ROUTE 20 WEATHER: First, I’d like to thank everyone once again for your continued support. If it were not for you, I would not be able to do a job that I love so very much – forecasting the weather for Western and Central Mass.

I’m reaching out to you to ask if you would help us out in alleviate the costs required for producing these weather forecasts for Western and Central Mass.

I do not get paid for the weather forecasts and the weather updates that I post on the Route 20 Weather website or on this Facebook page. It’s completely a public service to help out this area of the state which is vastly under served when it comes to weather coverage.

So, any donations are extremely helpful to offset the cost of the data that I pay for to analyze the weather and also for the amount of time I put into analyzing and forecasting the weather (I’ll be putting A LOT of hours in over the next week given the very active winter weather pattern).

HERE IS THE LATEST ON TONIGHT & SUNDAY MORNING'S SNOWFALL: An area of low pressure is expected to track eastward and pass just south of New England late tonight and Sunday morning.

Snow is expected to begin first across Western Mass around 8 pm this evening and then begin across Central Mass around 9 pm or so this evening.

The snow will then quickly become heavy at times beginning about 10 pm. Heavy snow is then expected to continue through midnight as well as during the after midnight hours of tonight. Snowfall rates of 1 inch per hour is likely with up to 2 inch per hour snowfall rates possible at times.

The snow will then lighten up in intensity around 4 am or so Sunday morning with light snow continuing through much of, if not all of Sunday morning.

The snow will then end around midday Sunday.

My latest forecast snowfall map for tonight and Sunday morning is attached to this post. Overall, it still looks like most areas will see 6 to 8 inches of snow accumulation with two exceptions.

Forecast Snow Totals From 8-9 pm This Evening To Midday Sunday
Forecast Snow Totals From 8-9 pm This Evening To Midday Sunday

The first exception is across the middle and lower Pioneer Valley of Western Mass where some shadowing of moisture from the Worcester Hills will cut down on snow amounts to perhaps 4 to 6 inches or so.

The second exception is across northern Worcester County in the area near and north of Route 2 where the snow could be fluffier in nature and come down a little bit harder. Because of this, I am increasing snow totals to 8 to 10 inches in this area.

Temperatures tonight will be between 20 and 25 Degrees. Temperatures by Sunday afternoon will be between 30 and 35 Degrees.

Winds tonight will be East at 5 to 10 mph. Winds on Sunday will be North to Northwest at 10 to 20 mph.
