It Will Be Very Windy Late This Afternoon & Tonight Across Western & Central Mass

It is going to turn very windy later this afternoon with very windy conditions expected to continue through tonight. This will certainly affect Trick or Treating later this afternoon & this evening, so be careful out there!!

West winds will continue to blow at speeds of 20 to 25 mph with gusts to 35 mph over the next 2-3 hours or so. These West winds will increase to 25 to 30 mph with gusts to 50-60 mph by late this afternoon. West winds of 25 to 30 mph with gusts to 50 to 60 mph will then continue throughout tonight before they begin to decrease in velocity during the day on Saturday.

The worst of the winds is expected from about 5 pm this afternoon until about 6 am Saturday morning. This is when we should expect those 50 to 60 mph wind gusts out of the west.

These strong winds will lead to a lot of the leaves being stripped from the trees. Also, some downed tree limbs could occur leading to scattered power outages across the region late this afternoon through tonight.

While Saturday will be windy, it'll be nowhere near as windy as it will be tonight. I expect West winds of 15 to 25 mph with gusts to 35-40 mph throughout the day on Saturday.
