High To Very High Wildfire/Brush Fire Danger This Afternoon Across Western & Central Mass

For This Afternoon: Lots of sunshine can be expected for this afternoon and it will be windy. High temperatures this afternoon will be near 65 Degrees. Winds this afternoon will be northwest at 10 to 20 mph with gusts to 30 mph. I wanted to also let you know that the fire danger for wildfires and brush fires is going to be quite high this afternoon. This is due to the combination of northwest winds gusting up to 30 mph and very dry air with relative humidity levels of around 25 percent. Consult with your local fire department if you are planning on having any outdoor fires or burning any leaves or brush – my recommendation if you are planning on doing this is to not do it today because things could get out of hand very quickly given the windy conditions. Bottom line is that the conditions will be very favorable for rapid wildfire and brush fire growth and spread this afternoon. Tonight: Clear to partly cloudy skies are expected tonight with low temperatures near 35 Degrees. Winds tonight will be northwest at 5 to 10 mph. Saturday: Another sunny day is expected on Saturday with much less wind. High temperatures Saturday will be near 65 Degrees. Winds on Saturday will be northwest at 7 to 14 mph. It is possible that we could be looking at another afternoon of high to very high wildfire/brush fire danger on Saturday. The air is expected to be extremely dry on Saturday afternoon with relative humidity levels of 15 to 20 percent and maybe even lower expected. The only factor that could lower the fire danger will be the wind speeds, which are expected to be much lower. With that said, brush and any dead vegetation or trees will be quite dry on Saturday leading to very favorable conditions for rapid wildfire and brush fire growth and spread. Sunday: A mixture of sunshine and clouds is expected on Sunday with high temperatures near 55 Degrees. Winds on Sunday will be east at 5 to 10 mph. Next Week’s Weather Forecast: A partly sunny day is expected on Monday with high temperatures between 60 and 65 Degrees. A frontal system is expected to push into the area during Tuesday bringing with it lots of shower activity throughout the day on Tuesday. High temperatures Tuesday will be between 55 and 60 Degrees. That frontal boundary will very slowly push to our east during Wednesday. It’ll still be close enough though to bring the area lots of clouds along with some scattered showers during the day on Wednesday. High temperatures Wednesday will be near 55 Degrees. An area of low pressure over Atlantic Canada will put the area in a northwest wind flow during Thursday with a mixture of sunshine and clouds expected along with some scattered showers. High temperatures Thursday will be between 50 and 55 Degrees. Next Friday looks partly sunny with high temperatures near 55 Degrees.
