Dry Weather Will Usher In The New Year Across Western & Central Mass

For Tonight: A northwest wind flow will finally pull in some dry weather tonight across the entire area.

Skies will gradually become partly cloudy this evening with clear to partly cloudy skies expected after midnight. Low temperatures will be between 25 and 30 Degrees. Winds will be West to Northwest at 5 to 10 mph.

New Year’s Eve: The last day of 2023 will be a nice one with lots of sunshine expected. High temperatures will be between 35 and 40 Degrees. Winds will be West to Northwest at 5 to 10 mph.

No weather problems are expected for First Night celebrations with generally cloudy skies anticipated. Low temperatures Sunday night will be near 25 Degrees. Winds will be West at 5 to 10 mph.

New Year’s Day: A partly sunny day is expected on the first day of 2024. High temperatures will be between 35 and 40 Degrees. Winds will be Northwest at 5 to 10 mph.

Tuesday & Wednesday: High pressure will remain in control of the weather for both Tuesday and Wednesday.

Tuesday will be sunny to partly sunny with high temperatures between 40 and 45 Degrees.

Wednesday also looks sunny to partly sunny with high temperatures between 40 and 45 Degrees.

A Storm To Keep A Close Eye On For Thursday Into Friday: An upper level trough of low pressure is expected to push into the eastern United States late in the week. At the same time this is occurring, it is expected that an area of low pressure will develop over the Gulf of Mexico late Wednesday. This low pressure system is then expected to track to the northeast and its interaction with a piece of energy moving into New England on Thursday will dictate what sort of impact, if any, it’ll have on our area.

When looking at the various weather forecast guidance, there are many different scenarios, including everything from dry weather continuing through all of next week to a decently sized snowstorm for the entire region for Thursday and Thursday night.

Given what I’m seeing right now, my thinking is for a near-miss with this storm system heading offshore and staying to the south and southeast of Nantucket. This means that perhaps some light snow could be possible at times during Thursday and Thursday night with colder weather moving in for Friday.

That said, this storm system will certainly be watched closely for any changes in the storm track.

High temperatures Thursday will be near 35 Degrees. Low temperatures Thursday night will be between 20 and 25 Degrees. High temperatures Friday will be near 30 Degrees.
