For Tonight: Quite a few of us across the area will probably see below zero low temperatures tonight as a high pressure system continues to control the weather.
Tonight will be the coldest night across the region since February 4, 2023 (almost 23 months ago!!) when I recorded a low temperature of minus 14 in Sturbridge, Worcester recorded a low temperature of minus 13, Westfield recorded a low temperature of minus 10 and Hartford recorded a low temperature of minus 9. While I’m not expecting widespread below zero low temperatures like we saw on February 4, 2023, it will still be very cold tonight.
Skies tonight will be clear with low temperatures between 3 below zero and 3 above zero. It should be noted that some locations may drop to as low as 5 to 10 below zero tonight. Winds will be Northwest at around 5 mph.
Monday: That big high pressure system will give the entire area a sunny day throughout much of Monday. That said, clouds will be on the increase by late afternoon as a frontal system approaches the region.
High temperatures will be near 25 Degrees. Winds will be Northwest at 5 to 10 mph in the morning and South at 5 to 10 mph in the afternoon.
Monday Night & Christmas Eve: A frontal system is expected to move across the area during the morning hours of Christmas Eve. This front looks to bring us a little bit of light snow during Christmas Eve morning. While it doesn’t look like it’ll be much in the way of snow accumulation, the falling snow for a while on Christmas Eve will be a nice touch.
Some light snow looks to begin across the region during the very late night hours of Monday night into the pre-dawn hours of Christmas Eve. This light snow then looks to continue through Christmas Eve morning before it ends by midday. Skies then remain cloudy during the afternoon before becoming clear by sunset.
Snow amounts of between a dusting and one inch of snow looks pretty likely.
I did want to note one thing and that is some of the weather forecast guidance is showing a scenario where the front is delayed a bit leading to the light snow occurring during the afternoon hours of Christmas Eve instead. While I’m not forecasting this at the present moment, it is something that I am going to keep an eye on.
Low temperatures Monday night will be between 15 and 20 Degrees. High temperatures Christmas Eve will be near 35 Degrees.
Winds on Monday night will be Southwest at 5 to 10 mph. Winds on Christmas Eve will be Southwest at 5 to 10 mph in the morning and Northwest at 5 to 10 mph in the afternoon.
Christmas Day: Partly sunny skies are expected with high temperatures near 35 Degrees.
Thursday Through Next Weekend: A period of quiet weather is expected late this coming week into next weekend as a high pressure system controls the weather.
Thursday will be partly sunny with high temperatures near 35 Degrees.
Friday looks sunny with high temperatures near 40 Degrees.
Saturday looks sunny with high temperatures near 40 Degrees.
Next Sunday looks partly sunny with high temperatures near 40 Degrees.
