Another Beautiful Day For Weather Expected On Sunday Across Western & Central Mass

For Tonight: Clear skies, low humidity and light winds will lead to temperatures to bottom out between 50 and 55 Degrees. Sunday: Another absolutely beautiful day in terms of weather is expected on Sunday. Lots of sunshine is expected with low humidity levels. High temperatures will be between 80 and 85 Degrees. Monday: A partly sunny day is expected on Monday with high temperatures between 75 and 80 Degrees. Tuesday & Wednesday: The weather may get a little more interesting, especially on Wednesday, as an area of low pressure tracks from the coast of North Carolina to near the coast of Southern New England. On Tuesday, low pressure is forecast to form near the North Carolina coast. For our area, it appears that any morning sunshine should give way to cloudy skies during the afternoon. Some shower activity is possible by late in the day, especially for areas south of the Mass Pike. High temperatures will be near 75 Degrees. The weather forecast becomes a lot more uncertain for Tuesday night and Wednesday as the exact track and intensity of a coastal low pressure system still needs to be ironed out. Some weather guidance such as the GFS model shows an intense storm system that brings heavy rain (1 to 3 inches of rainfall) and strong winds (wind gusts to 30-40 mph) to the entire area late Tuesday night into Wednesday. Other weather guidance is much more subdued and forecasts an offshore track, which leads to either some rain on Wednesday or no rain at all. That said, the latest European model, which previously showed a offshore track has trended closer to the coast and for a scenario that brings more rain to the area. At this point, I’m leaning towards a storm track that comes close enough to bring Western and especially Central Mass at least some rain, but not to the extent that the GFS model shows. This means that my forecast is for rain to develop across Central Mass late Tuesday night and then for rain to overspread Western Mass during Wednesday morning. Rain then continues across the entire area during Wednesday afternoon before ending early Wednesday evening. My preliminary thoughts on total rainfall amounts late Tuesday night through Wednesday are for less than one quarter of an inch across Western Mass and for between one quarter of an inch (0.25”) and one half of an inch (0.50”) across Central Mass. Given the slight possibility that this could be quite a strong storm system that passes near the New England coast on Wednesday, it’s a storm that I’ll be watching closely in the coming days. For me personally, I’d love to see a full-blown rain storm that brings an inch or two of rain. This would alleviate my own anxiety regarding our well running dry. This is the first time that I’ve had well water and it would figure the summer following us purchasing this house, we’d have a drought. So, I say bring on the rain!! Low temperatures Tuesday night will be near 60 Degrees. High temperatures Wednesday will be near 70 Degrees. Thursday & Friday: That storm system will begin to pull away from the area on Thursday. That said, it may still be close enough to bring the area cloudy skies to start the day with increasing sunshine during the afternoon. High temperatures will be between 75 and 80 Degrees. A southwesterly wind flow will begin to set up across the region on Friday bringing increasing humidity back into the area. Skies will be partly sunny with high temperatures between 80 and 85 Degrees.
