A Much Cooler & Less Humid Week Is Expected Across Western & Central Mass

A cold front now located over far northern parts of New England will push its way southward reaching our area by this evening.

It is expected a few showers and thunderstorms will occur across Western and Central Mass over the next few hours. Most areas should stay dry, however, but any areas that do see a brief thunderstorm will see a few minutes of downpours accompanied by some gusty winds and lightning.

Once that cold front moves through this evening, it will introduce some MUCH cooler and drier air into the area & it will feel like Fall across the region throughout much of this upcoming week.

This means that high temperatures on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday will be anywhere between 70 and 75 Degrees with nighttime low temperatures Monday night, Tuesday night and Wednesday night will be in the low to mid 50s. In fact, some upper 40s low temperatures look quite possible on Monday night and Tuesday night.

Unfortunately, dry weather with no rainfall to speak can be expected throughout this upcoming week.

As For Hurricane Erin - It continues to look extremely likely that Hurricane Erin will pass well to the south and east of New England late this week. This means that we will not see any impacts in the way of rain or wind from the hurricane here in Southern New England.

The BIG TIME threat from Hurricane Erin, however, will be the very large waves produced by Erin that will reach the coastline of Southern New England on Wednesday with these very large waves persisting through Thursday and Friday. I strongly urge anyone planning on visiting the beach or going swimming in the ocean on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and even Saturday to NOT go swimming at all. The extremely rough surf and extremely dangerous rip current threat will make it extremely unsafe to go swimming & you will be risking your life doing so.
