A Frosty Night Is Expected Tonight Across All Of Western & Central Mass (Posted at 3:55 pm Tuesday 10/6/2026)

It's definitely going to be a good idea for you to cover your plants or bring them in tonight as a frost is highly likely across all of Western and Central Mass tonight.

Clear skies with light winds are going to lead to some strong radiational cooling across the entire area tonight. This means that temperatures are going to fall quickly once the sun sets. I am expecting low temperatures tonight of between 32 and 37 Degrees across all of Western and Central Mass. This is definitely cold enough to lead to a frost to occur across most areas tonight. It should be noted that some of the more sheltered & normally colder locations may drop into the upper 20s to near 30 Degrees tonight leading to a hard freeze in these areas.

Given the likelihood of a widespread frost and some a hard freeze in some localized areas, you will most definitely need to bring in any outdoor plants you have. If you're not able to bring them in, then I highly recommend that you cover them tonight.
