4 pm Weather Update

Radar imagery as of the time of this post showed a few thunderstorms now pushing through the Albany, New York area with one of these storms now crossing the border into far southwestern Mass. These storms are moving to the east at a forward speed of about 30-35 mph.

The storms that are moving into southwestern Mass should continue moving eastward and looks to remain south of the Mass Pike. Because of this, these storms should reach the lower Pioneer Valley, including the Springfield Metro by about 5 pm or so. These storms then may move into areas around Monson and Wales around 5:30 pm & then Holland, Sturbridge and Southbridge by about 6 pm or so.

If these storms hold together, they may then reach areas around the I-395 corridor around the 6:15-6:30 pm time frame and then the Route 146 corridor around the 6:30-6:45 pm time frame.

These storms will be watched closely to see how strong they are as they move through, but at the minimum, I expect them to produce torrential downpours and at least some lightning when they move through.

The other storms around the Albany area will also push eastward and they will be watched closely as they reach the I-91 corridor near 6 pm and then possibly affect parts of Central Mass, including both the Worcester Hills and possibly the Worcester Metro around the 6:30-7 pm time frame.

More updates will be sent out as needed.
