For The Rest Of Today: An area of high pressure will control our weather over the next couple of days bringing very warm and humid weather conditions.
So, for the rest of today, skies are expected to be sunny to partly sunny. It will be very warm and humid with afternoon high temperatures between 87 and 90 Degrees.
Tonight: Skies are expected to be clear to partly cloudy tonight with low temperatures around 60 Degrees.
Friday: Plenty of sunshine with hot and humid conditions are expected on Friday. High temperatures Friday will be around 90 Degrees.
Saturday: The weather forecast for Saturday remains a difficult one and hinges heavily on how quickly a frontal system will move through southern New England.
Some of the weather forecast guidance that I look at is showing the front moving through as early as Saturday morning. If this happens, it would mean fairly widespread showers and a couple of thunderstorms throughout Saturday morning into Saturday afternoon before ending from north to south late Saturday. It would also mean a very low chance for any strong or severe thunderstorm activity since the atmosphere would be fairly stable.
On the other hand, some other weather forecast guidance are showing a scenario of a much slower frontal passage. If this happens, we could see a fairly robust severe weather situation across Western and Central Mass during Saturday afternoon.
I think the guidance that is pushing the front through during Saturday morning may be too quick. The reason why I think this is because there is no evident mechanism to push this system through that quickly. Instead, I think the front gradually moves through southern New England from northwest to southeast during Saturday afternoon.
This means that thunderstorms will likely move from northwest to southeast across Western and Central Mass during Saturday afternoon. The atmosphere is likely to be quite unstable due to plenty of heat and humidity around. This means that a few strong to severe thunderstorms are possible Saturday afternoon. Any strong to severe thunderstorms may produce gusty winds & hail.
Given the continued uncertainty of when exactly the front will push through, I’m not about to go “all-out” with the forecast of a full-blown severe weather outbreak because (1) Severe weather outbreaks are fairly rare in southern New England & (2) I don’t want to needlessly scare you.
With that said, the weather on Saturday is something that will need to be watched very closely.
High temperatures Saturday will be between 84 and 89 Degrees with very humid conditions.
Sunday: Another round of scattered thunderstorms is possible from late Sunday morning through Sunday afternoon as a piece of energy rotates through the region. High temperatures Sunday will be between 75 and 80 Degrees.
