Very Hot & Very Humid Weather Is Expected On Both Saturday & Sunday

For The Rest Of Today: A frontal boundary is stalled near the south coast of New England. The position of this front is such that the most widespread showers will occur the rest of today across southern Connecticut, southern Rhode Island, the Cape & the Islands.

Here in Western and Central Mass, skies throughout the rest of today will be cloudy and there will be some passing showers around from time to time. At this point, isolated showers seem likely along and north of the Mass Pike with more scattered showers expected the rest of today south of the Mass Pike.

High temperatures this afternoon will be between 76 and 81 Degrees.

Tonight: Some passing showers will persist across Western and Central Mass through midnight with mostly cloudy skies expected after midnight. Low temperatures tonight will be between 60 and 65 Degrees.

Friday: An area of high pressure will gradually build into our area during Friday. So, a generally partly sunny and hot day is expected on Friday. In addition, winds are expected to shift into the south and southwest by midday and this will lead to increasing humidity levels during the afternoon.

High temperatures Friday will be between 88 and 92 Degrees with humid conditions during the afternoon. Heat index readings of 95 to 100 Degrees are expected during Friday afternoon.

Saturday: A very hot and very humid day is expected on Saturday with afternoon high temperatures of 95 to 100 Degrees and heat index readings of 105 to 110 Degrees.

One unknown about later Saturday afternoon and Saturday night is whether there will be any thunderstorm activity. Given the very hot temperatures, there is expected to be a lot of unstable air around, but it may be quite difficult to break through a cap that will develop due to the high heat. Given this, I don’t expect any thunderstorm activity on Saturday or Saturday night.

Sunday: Another very hot and very humid day is expected on Sunday with afternoon high temperatures of 95 to 100 Degrees and heat index readings of 105 to 110 Degrees. There is the possibility for a couple of late afternoon and evening thunderstorms, especially across areas north of the Mass Pike.

Monday: A cold front is expected to push across Southern New England Monday bringing with it some scattered showers and thunderstorms. High temperatures Monday will be between 80 and 85 Degrees.
