Some Shower Activity Expected This Afternoon & Tonight Across Western & Central Mass

For This Afternoon & Tonight: An area of low pressure is expected to take shape over the Appalachian Mountains later today and tonight. Cloudy skies are expected this afternoon and there is likely to be some scattered shower activity. Temperatures will be near 75 Degrees. Winds will be West to Southwest at 5 to 10 mph. Tonight looks cloudy and there’s likely to be scattered showers around for much of the night. Low temperatures tonight will be between 60 and 65 Degrees. Winds will be West to Southwest at 5 to 10 mph. Monday: That area of low pressure is expected to track near the south coast of New England during Monday morning before heading offshore during the afternoon. Any leftover showers will end during the early morning hours with skies becoming partly sunny during the afternoon. High temperatures will be between 75 and 80 Degrees. Winds will be Southwest at 5 to 10 mph. Tuesday: A frontal system is expected to push through the area during the afternoon. While showers and thunderstorms will be a threat throughout much of the day, it looks like they will be most widespread between about 12 pm and 6 pm. Locally very heavy downpours is expected to be the main threat with any thunderstorms. That said, I’m still keeping a close eye on the possibility for some strong to even severe thunderstorms during the afternoon. The reason for this continues to be the possibility for some strong low-level wind shear to combine with some modest amounts of unstable air. At this point, it appears that the risk for strong to severe thunderstorms is still low, but it’s something that I’ll be keeping an eye on anyways. High temperatures Tuesday will be between 75 and 80 Degrees. Winds will be South to Southwest at 5 to 10 mph. Wednesday Through Friday: An area of high pressure will build into the area beginning on Wednesday and will control the weather for Thursday and Friday. Wednesday looks partly sunny with high temperatures between 75 and 80 Degrees. Thursday is expected to be sunny with high temperatures near 70 Degrees. Friday is expected to be sunny to partly sunny with high temperatures between 70 and 75 Degrees.
