Lots Of Sunshine This Afternoon; A Few Showers Friday Night; Rain, Possibly Heavy, Expected Sunday

For This Afternoon: An area of high pressure will bring lots of sunshine to Western and Central Mass this afternoon. High temperatures will be between 63 and 68 Degrees. Southwest winds are expected to gust up to 25 mph this afternoon.

Tonight Through Friday: An area of high pressure will remain in control of our weather tonight through Friday.

Skies tonight will be clear and winds are expected to become light after sunset this evening. The combination of light winds and clear skies will cause temperatures to drop pretty quickly tonight with low temperatures near 40 Degrees expected.

Friday is expected to start out sunny to partly sunny, however, clouds will be on the increase during the afternoon as a cold front begins to approach the area. In addition, scattered showers are expected by late afternoon Friday across the upper Pioneer Valley and across northern Worcester County, especially along and north of Route 2. High temperatures Friday will be between 60 and 65 Degrees.

Friday Night Through Saturday: A quick moving and weak cold front will move across the area during Friday night. Overall, I’m not expecting a whole lot in the way of shower activity with mainly scattered showers expected from Friday evening until about midnight or so Friday night. Any shower activity is expected to end between about 1 and 3 am Friday night. Low temperatures Friday night will be near 40 Degrees.

An area of high pressure will build into Western and Central Mass during Saturday bringing with it a partly sunny day. High temperatures Saturday will be between 55 and 60 Degrees.

Sunday: Sunday is expected to be a rainy day as an area of low pressure develops over southern New England and links up with an eastward moving frontal system.

Rain is expected to overspread Western and Central Mass just before sunrise Sunday morning. The rain is then expected to continue throughout the day on Sunday and the rain may be heavy at times during Sunday afternoon. The rain is then expected to continue into Sunday evening before ending around midnight Sunday night.

Total Rainfall Amounts of between one inch (1.00”) and one and one half inches (1.50”) are expected on Sunday across Western and Central Mass. Overall, Sunday will be a great day to stay inside!!

High temperatures Sunday will be between 55 and 60 Degrees.

Monday Through Wednesday: The weather forecast for the first half of next week still looks uncertain, however, it appears that there is a greater signal towards dry weather on both Monday and Tuesday.

Monday and Tuesday now look partly sunny with high temperatures near 65 Degrees.

Wednesday looks generally cloudy, however, there is uncertainty as to whether there may be a weak low pressure system that crosses near the Cape and eastern parts of Mass. If this happens, then there could be some light rain on Wednesday across Central Mass with dry conditions across Western Mass. It is something to keep an eye on. High temperatures Wednesday will be between 55 and 60 Degrees.

Halloween Day & Halloween Night: There continues to be quite a bit of uncertainty with the weather forecast for Halloween. This uncertainty lies with the speed of an eastward moving frontal system.

A quicker moving frontal system would mean rain, heavy at times, during the day on Halloween with rain ending by late afternoon and dry, but cold weather on Halloween Night.

On the other hand, a much slower moving frontal system would mean rain develops by Halloween afternoon with rain continuing through Halloween night before ending Friday morning.

At this point, unfortunately, I think that the frontal system will be a bit quicker moving through than what I thought at this time yesterday. So, Halloween Day will start out dry with rain overspreading Western and Central Mass during the later parts of Halloween afternoon. In addition, it now looks like much of Halloween night looks wet with rain expected.

It should be noted that there continues to be a lot of uncertainty with the Halloween weather forecast. Anyone that has outdoor plans for either Halloween Day or Halloween Night, keep checking back for updates as I will be refining and updating what is expected for weather on Halloween.
