Heavy Rain With A Localized Flood Threat Tonight Into Tuesday Morning Across Western & Central Mass

For The Rest Of Today: An area of high pressure will continue to push to the east while a warm front approaches from the south. So, the morning sunshine that we have will give way to cloudy skies by early this afternoon. Showers are expected to push into Western and Central Mass by late this afternoon. High temperatures today will be between 75 and 80 Degrees.

Heavy Rain With A Localized Flood Threat Tonight Into Tuesday Morning Across Western & Central Mass: A warm front will push northward across southern New England tonight. Bands of showers with locally heavy rainfall and an embedded thunderstorm or two can be expected with this frontal boundary.

It appears that there could be two rounds of heavy rainfall. The first round of potentially heavy rainfall is expected during the evening hours tonight with this first round departing just after midnight tonight. A second round of potentially heavy rainfall connected to a eastward moving cold front is expected from around dawn Tuesday morning until about mid-morning Tuesday.

Widespread rainfall totals of around one inch can be expected tonight into Tuesday morning, however, localized amounts of up to 2 to 3 inches are possible, especially across the Worcester Hills.

This heavy rainfall will bring the potential for some poor drainage street flooding. In addition, more significant localized flooding is possible across the Worcester Hills.

Tuesday Afternoon: That cold front will push to our east by Tuesday afternoon. This means that skies will be partly sunny during Tuesday afternoon with high temperatures around 75 Degrees.

Wednesday: An area of high pressure will bring sunny skies for Wednesday with high temperatures between 75 and 80 Degrees.

Thursday: Another frontal system will approach the area from the west. Ahead of this front, a very wet and humid tropical air mass will be pulled northward into southern New England thanks to a quick moving low pressure system. Widespread showers and some embedded thunderstorms will push into Western and Central Mass by midday Thursday and continue through Thursday afternoon and Thursday evening. Locally heavy rainfall is likely. Total rainfall amounts of up to one inch can be expected.

High temperatures Thursday will be near 70 Degrees.

Friday: It now looks like skies on Friday will be partly sunny with high temperatures around 75 Degrees.
