Areas Of Drizzle/Fog Rest Of Today & Tonight; Increasing Chance For Showers Wednesday Afternoon

For The Rest Of Today: A moist easterly wind flow is expected to continue to influence our weather throughout the rest of today. So, expect cloudy skies throughout the rest of today. In addition, there will be areas of drizzle and fog around at times. High temperatures this afternoon will be between 55 and 60 Degrees.

Tonight Through Wednesday: A moist weather pattern will continue tonight through Wednesday. At the same time this is happening, an area of high pressure will push further offshore of the New England coast, which will turn our upper level winds into a south to southwesterly direction.

For tonight, expect cloudy skies with areas of drizzle and fog. Low temperatures tonight will be between 45 and 50 Degrees.

On Wednesday, skies will be cloudy and there will be an increasing chance for showers during Wednesday afternoon. High temperatures Wednesday will be between 60 and 65 Degrees.

Wednesday Night Through Halloween Morning: A warm front is expected to push northward, which will cause widespread showers to overspread Western and Central Mass after midnight Wednesday night. This first round of widespread showers will end around sunrise Halloween morning leaving us with cloudy skies with the possibility of a shower or two throughout the morning.

Halloween Afternoon & Halloween Night Through Friday: An area of low pressure is expected to track up the St. Lawrence River Valley in southern Quebec province on Thursday night before moving right across northern Maine and northern New Brunswick on Friday. This storm system will pull a strong cold front right across Western and Central Mass late Thursday night and Friday morning.

This storm system will bring a combination of heavy rain, gusty winds and the possibility of a thunderstorm or two to Western and Central Mass mainly on Halloween night and Friday.

Gusty Winds: The overall wind field with this storm system will increase starting late Thursday afternoon and then continue through Thursday night and Friday.

It appears that there may be two periods of gusty winds that will impact Western and Central Mass.

The first will be during the overnight hours of Halloween night ahead of the eastward moving cold front. Overall, it looks like south winds will gust up to 25 to 35 mph at times during Halloween night. What we will need to watch out for is the possibility for localized wind gusts of up to 50 mph that could occur with a line of heavy showers and possible thunderstorms that will move through during the pre-dawn hours of Friday morning.

The second round of gusty winds will occur beginning around sunrise Friday morning and then continue throughout the day on Friday on the backside of the cold front. Winds are expected to shift into a westerly direction and gust up to 35 to 45 mph around sunrise Friday morning. These 35 to 45 mph westerly wind gusts are then expected to continue throughout the day on Friday.

Heavy Rain With A Chance For A Thunderstorm Or Two: Scattered showers early Halloween afternoon will become a steady rain towards late afternoon on Halloween. The rain is then expected to continue through all of Halloween night into the first half of Friday morning. Overall, the rain on Halloween afternoon and Halloween night will be light to moderate in intensity.

A period of heavy rain looks to occur with the frontal passage late Halloween night through sunrise Friday morning. The strong nature of this frontal boundary leads me to believe that a line of heavy rain and possible thunderstorms may move through between about 4 am and 8 am Friday morning.

The rain is expected to quickly end just before midday Friday with some sunshine possible during Friday afternoon.

Temperatures: High temperatures on Halloween Day will be between 65 and 70 Degrees. In addition, it will be humid on Halloween Day. Temperatures on Halloween night will be near 60 Degrees with humid conditions. Temperatures on Friday will start out between 60 and 65 Degrees, but will fall into the 50s during Friday afternoon with the humidity levels quickly dropping.

This Weekend: It currently looks like dry weather is expected for this weekend with partly sunny skies for both Saturday and Sunday. High temperatures Saturday will be between 50 and 55 Degrees. High temperatures next Sunday will be between 50 and 55 Degrees.
