Another Round Of Strong To Severe Thunderstorms Expected Wednesday Afternoon & Evening

For The Rest Of Today: An area of high pressure will build across southern New England the rest of today. This will bring plenty of sunshine to the area along with more comfortable humidity levels as compared to yesterday.

High temperatures this afternoon will be between 84 and 88 Degrees.

Tonight: That high pressure system will remain over the area this evening before moving off of the New England coast after midnight tonight.

Skies will start out clear this evening, but an increase in cloudiness is expected after midnight tonight. Low temperatures tonight will be between 60 and 65 Degrees.

Wednesday: Another round of thunderstorms, some of which may be strong to severe, is expected Wednesday afternoon and Wednesday evening across Western and Central Mass.

A warm front is expected to push northward across southern New England during Wednesday morning. This will put us back into a very humid air mass from late Wednesday morning through Wednesday afternoon. In addition, some peeks of sunshine through lots of clouds are expected at times throughout Wednesday. High temperatures Wednesday will be between 80 and 85 Degrees.

The atmosphere by late Wednesday morning through Wednesday afternoon is expected to be quite unstable with a decent amount of low-level wind shear expected. These are favorable environmental conditions for severe thunderstorms and it is something that will need to be watched very closely.

So, thunderstorms are likely from late Wednesday morning through Wednesday afternoon into Wednesday evening. While it will not be thundering the entire afternoon and evening, I do expect to see a couple of rounds of thunderstorms.

As I already mentioned, some of the thunderstorms during Wednesday afternoon and Wednesday evening will be strong to severe with wind gusts of 40-65 mph, hail, torrential downpours with localized street/highway flooding and frequent lightning. Given the strong amounts of low-level wind shear that is expected, a tornado or two is a possibility, however, the overall threat is low.

Thursday: A cold front will slowly move from west to east across southern New England on Thursday. I think that the front will pass through Western Mass early Thursday morning and then through Central Mass during the late morning hours of Thursday.

So, a few showers are possible during Thursday morning with increasing sunshine and gradually decreasing humidity expected during Thursday afternoon. High temperatures Thursday will be around 85 Degrees.

Friday Through Sunday: A large high pressure system will build into southern New England during Friday and remain in place on Saturday and Sunday.

Sunny to partly sunny skies are expected on Friday, Saturday and Sunday with high temperatures all three days between 75 and 80 Degrees. Even better is that the humidity levels will be quite comfortable.
