For Tonight: An area of high pressure will build eastward from the Great Lakes during tonight.
Skies will start out partly cloudy during this evening and will become clear during the after midnight hours. Low temperatures will be between 35 and 40 Degrees. Winds will be North to Northwest at 10 to 20 mph.
Thursday: That high pressure system will be in full control of the weather throughout the day on Thursday.
Lots of sunshine can be expected throughout the day on Thursday with high temperatures near 55 Degrees. Winds will be North to Northwest at 10 to 20 mph.
Thursday Night: The position of that high pressure system being right over our area on Thursday night will lead to the likelihood of widespread frosts and freezes across the entire area.
Clear skies are expected throughout Thursday night with low temperatures between 29 and 34 Degrees. Some of the normally colder spots will probably fall to between 25 and 28 Degrees on Thursday night. This means that widespread frost and freeze conditions are very likely leading to the killing of crops and other sensitive vegetation and plants.
Friday: Plenty of sunshine is expected throughout the day on Friday with high temperatures near 60 Degrees. Winds will be Southwest at 6 to 12 mph.
Saturday: That high pressure system will remain in control of the weather throughout the day on Saturday.
Skies during the day on Saturday will be sunny to partly sunny with high temperatures near 65 Degrees.
A Nor’Easter Looks To Bring Rain & Gusty Winds From Sunday Until Tuesday: It is beginning to look increasingly more likely that a coastal storm system will bring rain, possibly heavy at times, along with gusty easterly winds to all of Western and Central Mass starting on Sunday and lasting through Monday and even Tuesday.
An area of low pressure is expected to take shape just off of the coasts of South Carolina and North Carolina on Saturday. This low pressure system is then expected to strengthen as it heads northward reaching about the Jersey shore during Sunday. It is then possible that this storm system could track near the south coast of New England on Monday before it turns eastward and begins to head offshore on Tuesday and Wednesday.
The slow movement of this storm system as it gets near Southern New England means that there could be a prolonged period of rain, some of it which may be heavy intensity, as well as a prolonged period of gusty easterly winds, which could lead to, unfortunately, a lot of the leaves to be stripped from the trees prematurely.
Here is my forecast for Sunday through Tuesday based on my expectation of storm impacts on our area:
Sunday will be cloudy with rain overspread the area from south to north during the afternoon. High temperatures will be between 55 and 60 Degrees. Winds will be East at 10 to 20 mph with gusts to 30-35 mph.
Rain is expected on Sunday night and it may be heavy at times. In addition, it may be windy with East winds of 20 to 30 mph with gusts to 40 mph. Low temperatures will be near 45 Degrees.
Rain is expected to continue throughout the day on Monday & once again, the rain may be heavy at times. It may also continue to be windy throughout the day on Monday with East winds of 20 to 30 mph with gusts to 40 mph. High temperatures Monday will be near 55 Degrees.
Monday night looks as if we may see periods of rain, however, the intensity of the rain looks to be much lighter as compared to Sunday night and Monday. The east and northeast winds look to decrease as well with speeds of 10 to 20 mph with gusts to 30 mph expected.
Tuesday looks cloudy and it appears there may be periods of rain from time to time. High temperatures will be between 55 and 60 Degrees.
Current indications seem to point towards rainfall totals that range between 1 and 2 inches & most of that occurring during Sunday night and Monday.
It goes without saying that I am keeping a very close eye on this potential storm & I will have many more updates for you in the days to come.
