A Few Strong To Possibly Severe Thunderstorms Between 3 pm This Afternoon & 8 pm This Evening Mainly Across Western Mass: There is the possibility that a couple of strong to possibly severe thunderstorms could impact mainly Western Mass between about 3 pm this afternoon and 8 pm this evening.
Some hazy partial sunshine is expected later this morning into early this afternoon. This will lead to temperatures rising into the 75 to 80 Degree range. This will combine with an approaching cold front to allow some showers and thunderstorms to develop across Western Mass by about 3 pm this afternoon.
The atmosphere is likely to become moderately unstable and thus a few strong to possibly severe thunderstorms could occur between 3 pm and 8 pm today across Western Mass. It should be noted that the highest risk will be along and west of I-91 with localized very gusty winds, small hail, torrential downpours and frequent lightning possible. Even if we see a few severe thunderstorms occur, this does not look like a widespread severe weather event.
So, it appears that a line of showers and thunderstorms, a few that could be strong to possibly severe, will enter far Western Mass around 3-4 pm this afternoon. These storms may reach the Pioneer Valley of Western Mass between 4 and 6 pm and then cross Worcester County . This line of thunderstorms may then move across Worcester County between 5 pm and 8 pm today.
A second round of scattered showers and a couple of thunderstorms may move across Western and Central Mass between 7 pm and midnight this evening. All shower and thunderstorm activity will end around midnight.
