4 To 8 Inches Of Snow Is Expected On Saturday Night Into Sunday Morning: After some quiet weather tonight and all day Saturday, a storm system is expected to affect the entire region during Saturday night that lasts into Sunday morning. The precipitation with this storm is expected to be all snow.
Snow is expected to overspread the entire area about 9 pm or so Saturday evening. That snow is expected to quickly become heavy at times starting about 10-11 pm with the heavy snow continuing for several hours during the overnight hours of Saturday night. Snowfall rates of 1 to possibly as much as 2 inches per hour can be expected.
The snow will then lighten up in intensity just before sunrise Sunday morning with the light snow continuing for a few hours during Sunday morning.
The snow will come to an end between about 9 to 11 am or so Sunday morning.
My forecast snowfall map for Saturday night and Sunday morning’s storm is attached to this post. Most areas look to see about 6 to 8 inches of snow accumulation. The exception to this may end up being the middle and lower Pioneer Valley of Western Mass where some shadowing of moisture from the Worcester Hills will cut down on snow amounts to perhaps 4 to 6 inches or so.

I want to let you know that I was somewhat conservative with my forecast snow amounts and that there is the possibility for slightly higher snow totals (maybe 8 to 10 inches) over the northern Worcester Hills. I don’t want to raise the snow totals there just yet until I see more data.
Temperatures on Saturday night will be between 20 and 25 Degrees. Temperatures by Sunday afternoon will be between 30 and 35 Degrees.
Winds on Saturday night will be East at 5 to 10 mph. Winds on Sunday will be Northwest at 10 to 20 mph.
Three More Winter Storms May Affect The Area Next Week Through Next Weekend: As I have mentioned previously, next week through next weekend looks extremely active in the way of winter storm threats for the entire area. In particular, there are three additional possible winter storms that might affect the area.
The first winter storm may affect the area on Tuesday night as a low pressure system tracks to the south of New England. This storm may end up passing far enough to the south so that we end up with light to perhaps moderate amounts of snow.
The second winter storm has the potential to affect the entire area throughout Thursday and Thursday night. The track of this second storm is highly uncertain and because of this, what sorts of impacts it might have on the area are uncertain. The possibilities range from an all snow event that brings moderate amounts of snowfall to a storm that brings a mixture of snow and ice to the area.
And a third winter storm may affect the area throughout much of next weekend. This third storm may bring extended impacts that last from next Saturday afternoon until sometime next Sunday night or next Monday morning. Whether this third storm is an all snow event or something that brings snow, ice and rain remains to be seen, but we have plenty of time to watch it.
