For The Rest Of Today: An area of high pressure will provide quite a bit in the way of sunshine across Western and Central Mass the rest of today. High temperatures this afternoon will be between 42 and 47 Degrees.
1 To 3 Inches Of Snow & Sleet Accumulation Sunday Morning Changes To Freezing Rain & Rain Sunday Afternoon: Even though a strengthening area of low pressure will be passing well to our west on Sunday, there is expected to be enough cold air locked in so that Sunday is likely to be a very messy day in terms of snow, sleet, freezing rain and rain.
Snow and sleet will overspread Western and Central Mass between 6 and 8 am Sunday morning. It is likely that a period of heavy snow and sleet will occur between about 9 am and 1 pm Sunday before the precipitation changes to some light freezing rain during the early afternoon hours. A quick 1 to 3 inches of snow and sleet accumulation is expected Sunday morning.
During Sunday afternoon, expect a gradual changeover from light freezing rain to light rain. The exception will be across the northern Worcester Hills, the Berkshires and the hilltowns of Western Mass where light freezing rain may last through the entire afternoon.
All precipitation with this system will end by Sunday evening.
