1 More Day Of High Heat & Humidity Is Expected Across Western & Central Mass

Another day of hot and very humid weather is expected on Tuesday across Western and Central Mass. Fortunately, Tuesday will be the last day with 90-plus degree temperatures for a while. High temperatures Tuesday afternoon will be between 90 and 95 Degrees with heat index readings of around 100 Degrees. A frontal boundary is expected to push slowly southward into the area during Tuesday afternoon and Tuesday evening. The forcing from the front combined with the high heat and humidity is likely to trigger quite a bit in the way of thunderstorm activity from about mid-afternoon into the early evening hours. There’s the possibility that a couple of the thunderstorms could be on the strong side bringing the threat for wind gusts to 40 to 50 mph. The bigger threat, however, will be some heavy downpours and frequent lightning with any of the thunderstorms. One thing that we’re going to have to watch for during the mid and late afternoon hours of Tuesday is the possibility for thunderstorms to train over one area. Should this occur, it could lead to a localized flash flood issue as it would rain very heavily over one spot for a prolonged period of time. At this point, it appears that the time frame for thunderstorm activity Tuesday will be from about 2-3 pm until about 8-9 pm. Wednesday & Thursday: That frontal boundary will become stationary across our region during Wednesday into Thursday. While some cooler temperatures are likely, it is expected that the humidity levels will remain high. So, warm and muggy, instead of hot and oppressive for Wednesday and Thursday. An area of low pressure is expected to ride along this frontal boundary for Wednesday night and Thursday and it appears that it’ll bring some very much needed rainfall in the way of widespread showers for late Wednesday night into Thursday. At this point, the area that looks to see the most beneficial rainfall of up to one inch possible is near and south of the Mass Pike. Areas north of the Mass Pike may end up seeing more in the way of scattered showers for Wednesday night into Thursday. High temperatures Wednesday will be between 75 and 80 Degrees with humid conditions. Low temperatures Wednesday night will be near 65 Degrees. High temperatures Thursday will be near 80 Degrees with humid conditions. Friday Through Sunday: FINALLY, relief from the humid weather is expected for the end of the week through this weekend. Dew point temperatures are expected to be in the 50s throughout Friday, Saturday and Sunday making things feel very comfortable. Friday is expected to be partly sunny with high temperatures between 75 and 80 Degrees. Saturday and Sunday both look sunny with high temperatures between 75 and 80 Degrees.
